Chile Vacations – Easter Island Mysteries
Traveling to Easter Island, Chile the most isolated inhabited island in the world, and a fabulous Chile travel destination is getting easier and easier. With today’s advancing technology and a growing tourist industry in Latin America, you don’t need to wait any longer to travel to this culturally riveting and picturesque island paradise.
There are two ways to get to the island if you don’t want to take your chances in a big canoe like seafaring adventurers did 1200 years ago. You can take a cruise or you can fly. Lan Chile flies every day from Santiago and there are many different options for cruises starting in Chile or in the Polynesian Islands with destinations or stop-overs in Easter Island.
Lan, however has just made an exciting announcement. Lan Peru has recently announced an expansion to feature Easter Island and Iguacu. Lan Peru is going to offer two new flights. One flight will fly from Cusco to Iguazu Falls in Brazil and another will fly from Lima to Easter Island.
Iguazu Falls is a major tourist attraction in Brazil and was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. With direct access to Iguazu from Cusco visitors will be able to see two of South America’s most important destinations in less than a week (Machu Picchu and Iguazu Falls).
Vice President of Lan North America and the Caribbean is saying that this airline group based in Chile is working on expanding its Lima hub with many new connections and additional frequencies to certain popular business destinations.
Lan had already announced last month four weekly flights from Lima to San Francisco, which will launch at the beginning of July. The new flights to Easter Island will be launched sometime in the second half of 2010. They will start off with a few flights a week and see how it grows from there. As far as high season and low season, right now they are planning on offering these flights year round but of course are going to be flexible to meet consumer demands.
Lan says Easter Island and Iguazu are only a part of what they are planning for the coming years. Several expansion options are being considered and with success continuing in the way it has been we can expect to hear about them soon. One idea they’ve already mentioned is a flight to the Galapogos, teaming up with TAME carrier. Flights to the Galapogos are very restricted so Lan would be unable to operate any new services to the island chain’s two airports. They are also saying that they are planning on concentraiting their new routes to southern destinations which is excellent travelers in Latin America who can benefit from the efficiency of more routes.
South America’s highlight destinations are becoming more and more connected as the airline industry continues to grow. Easter Island’s reputation is growing as a South American hotspot as continued positive feedback rolls in from its visitors. So jump on the bandwagon while there’s room, because spots are filling up.
Easter Island travel is getting easier and the isolated island getaway vacation that you’ve been dreaming of is becoming more and more a reality.
